I regret that it hasn't been possible for NEFSA to find room for some of them in this book, but oh well, there should be another volume.

He also wrote a series of three ironic detective novels about Hob Dranconian, proprietor of the Alternative Detective Agency, an aging hippie who used to live on Ibiza and who wanders through criminal investigations, often hilariously, until the solution somehow works itself out around him.  Do yourself a favor and read Soma, the third and final and best to date.  Then you'll want to find the first two, The Alternative Detective and Draconian New York.

Now he lives in Red Hook, New York, a couple of hours north of New York City.  He's still writing well, and still produces fiction today that is thought-provoking, memorable, and stylish.  And satirical too---do notice that, because it is where the politics comes in.

As an ironic investigator of questions of identity and of the nature of reality, he is a peer of Philip K. Dick and Kurt Vonnegut.  In an interview that has been up on the web for years at this writing (www.fantascienza.net/sfpeople/robert.sheckley) this exchange took place:
